Turf in Region D championship games??

Didn't know if this has been discussed yet or not, but Phil Robbins has stated the both the D-1 and D-2 Region D title games will be played at UVA-Wise on the turf this year... on the same day, just wondered what people thought about it, good, bad?

This could work in Haysi's favor if they get that far... because I am sure we could deal without the rowdy crowd of a packed Legion Field...

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, Haysi my not even get to the regional finals if everything shakes out the way they supposed too.

But I agree 100% that the regional games should be at UVA@Wise, basically cause it gives the regional champ a good feel on turf if they make it all the way.

If we play Rye Cove in round 1, there is no way we CAN'T make it that far.... ;-)

If Honaker outpoints Powell Valley, we will play Haysi first round. Hopefull Honaker can then obtain the ULTIMATE redemption lol. But, if Honaker outpoints Powell Valley and Rye Cove wins the Cumberland, Haysi will play Rye Cove first round and Honaker plays Gate City.

Yeah, but Rye Cove shouldn't even be in the playoffs. Like it or not, Clintwood should be in there somewhere. They beat Haysi in Wk. 2 or 3?

Well if they want in the playoffs so bad maybe they need to join a different district and try to win it instead of whining about weak schedules. I agree they should be in but thats not how the system works

Phil Robbins is as full of "sheet" as a Christmas turkey. I bet if PV beats GC and could host the Region D Championship game he wouldn't be pushing for the game to be played on turf. I don't see it happening anyway, and honestly, why move it?

Haysi should be in the regional finals but I can not see Powell Valley beating Gate City in the first round of the playoffs. However IF they did pull off the impossible and sent Gate City home for the season, I truly feel that Phil Robbins would want to play the Regional final on turf. Why wouldn't he? Afterall the state championship game (if any region "D" team gets that far) will be on turf, and there is no better way for any team to get accustomed to turf then to play a live game on it.
I would think that the coaching staffs of all the teams involved would want as much experience on turf as possible. If for no other reason then the safty issues at hand. Playing the regional finals at Gate City (vs Haysi or Rye Cove)or Haysi (vs Powell Valley), gives the region "D" champion a maxium of 8 1/2 days of practise on turf. Whereas playing the regional championship game on turf would give them 12 days practise and one real game to prepare for the unfamiliar tendencys of the artificial turf.
I understand the home field advantage issues also. Back when I played football I loved playing on our home field, but then again we never made it to the playoffs either. Looking at the BIG picture here, this could reduce the disadvange that the region "D" champion could face later on in the playoffs. It is my understanding that it is not uncommon for teams in regions "A" & "B" to occasionally play on turf. Pitting two evenly matched team together on turf with one team having some exerience on turf (region A or B) and the other team with no playing time on turf (region D), I could not give the HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE to the less experienced region "D" teams.
I apologize for rambling on, but this is just my views on this issue.
